THE LAND OF HOPELESS UTOPIANS

The concept behind the Land of Hopeless Utopians is to create a multi faceted stage within a geodesic dome aimed at festivals and events in the UK for the summer of 2012. During the day there will be a variety of games and silliness to get involved in or a haven for festival goers to relax on giant cushions and enjoy the music. At night it will be programmed to have a mixture of immersive environments and abstract audio moving into a more dynamic upbeat space. At its peak times the dome can hold up to 300 people but with the sides raised up many more can gather outside to enjoy the entertainment and due to the light permeable canopy, the visuals show is arguably even more impressive when viewed from there. It also looks amazing approaching from distance as it lights up the festival night time landscape.

The rather odd name of the space comes from a mocking title given to Buckminster Fuller, the original designer of the geodesic dome. He was dubbed a “hopeless utopian” by the establishment of his time because of his ethics, his optimism in humanity and his belief that the human race could live synergistically with the planet and each other. In honour of his life and achievements, we have taken on that name and are proud to be hopeless utopians too.

In creating a programme it would be ideal to collaborate with event organisers to create a diverse and interesting line up of performers, visual artists, DJ's and musicians.

• Mac 250's
• A variety of different coloured lasers.
• The projection rig, which will be brought from Australia incorporates 5 matched 4500 Lumen short throw Sanyo Projectors and a matrix to switch between them.
